Rental House Rates
We have evaluated prices of comparable homes in the area to arrive at fair pricing for our vacation rental. Even at the height of the season, the price per room is only $150 per night and the environment is much more comfortable and private than getting 4 hotel rooms. We want your summer memories to include fishing off the dock, relaxing on the porch swing and building a fire to have s'mores at night. Winter Rates November 15 - March 30 $400/Night (min 3) $2,000 / Week
Spring Rates March 30 - June 15 $500/Night (min 3) $3,000 / Week
Summer Rates June 15 - September 5 $600/Night (min 5) $3,600 / Week
Fall Rates September 5 - November 15 $500/Night (min 3) $3,000 / Week
The rates we are posting on the site are for occupancy of 10 or fewer. Added guests, up to 6 (or 16 in total,) will be charged a fee of $25 per person. We also add a cleaning fee as well as a refundable security deposit on our invoices. Our expectation is that the house will be left in the same condition that you found it, but that we will have to do a few hours of laundry and make clean beds and restroom for the next guests.
How to reserve your place at the Painted Porch Vacation Rental Cottage:
The first step in making a reservation at our lakefront house is to fill out the form on our Contact Page. We will do our best to keep our online reservations calendar up to date, so that we don't waste your time. So take a look at the calendar before you reach out to us. After we have heard from you, we will forward you our rental agreement. This agreement is rather elaborate, but it really comes down to protecting you, protecting the house and protecting us. It's pretty boiler-plate-ish. The house is much more friendly than the application/contract. In addition to renting the house directly through our website, you may reserve the house on VRBO. The rates are a little higher on VRBO, based on additional fee that we are charged.
To secure your rental, we need the signed agreement as well as an initial non-refundable downpayment for your stay at the lakefront house on the Finger Lakes Wine Trail. What we mean when we say "non-refundable" is that we will not refund it unless we find someone else to rent the home during the week when you had reserved it. We ask that you give us up to 6 weeks notice if you would like to cancel, to improve the chances of getting a replacement renter in place.
When we have received all of the required information, we will send you a confirmation letter. That letter will remind you all of the details of the house and will also include the lock box code that we have set for you for that week.

Following is a calendar. If the dates are RED, then the house is booked. If the dates are GREEN, the House is available. If the dates are BLACK there is someone working on a reservation for that timing.

What should we bring to the Painted Porch Lakefront Vacation Rental?
Here are some of the things our guests like to have with them when they come to stay at our vacation rental. Beach towels if they plan to swim, Kuereg Cups for coffee, tea or hot cocoa in the morning. Water shoes to keep your feet from touching the zebra mussels, which are sometimes mixed in with the shale rocks on the shore. Bring your boat and your bikes. The dock is not great for tying up to, but you can certainly anchor your boat out front. Ingredients for s'mores are definitely worth having, no matter what time of year you are visiting. And if you drive by a firewood stand on the way to the house, definitely pick some up.
Most people bring food with them to the house. We have plenty of pots and pans, plates and cups and silverware settings. There is a little seasonal gourmet grocery store, The Busy Bee, about a block away from the house at Kidders. Next store to our favorite grocery haven on Cayuga Lake is our favorite bar/restaurant, O'Malley's Cabin by the Lake. So, as long as you are there between Memorial Day and Labor Day, you will be able to pick up a the other things you need or get a great burger! The Busy Bee also rents out boats and bicycles if you want to do a little bit of exploring on the lake.
Here are some other useful things to bring when visiting the house: Life jackets, beach towels, sun screen, bug spray. Where ever you rent a boat on Cayuga Lake, lifejackets will be provided, but based on our experience, it is nicer to have your own.
There are a number of ways to rent the Painted Porch Finger Lakes Rental Cottage on the shore of Cayuga Lake. The Finger Lakes Wineries nearby are open year round for tasting, and there are so many special events in the Finger Lakes through out the year that we have competitive rates to rent this vacation home year round.
Summer is the high season on Cayuga Lake, where sailing, kayaking, water skiing, fishing and all kinds of other water sports can be enjoyed. The Painted Porch cottage has a sloping lawn that leads to a shale beach (full of skipping stones!) And the most exciting news of 2016 is that our dock has ben installed! Yay!
Late Spring and Fall are the mid-season. There are several events in the Finger Lakes area that take place in the late spring. Cornell graduation, Ithaca College Graduation.
