Finger Lakes Waterfront Vacation Rental
There are so many fabulous things to do in the Finger Lakes beyond wine tasting. And many events take place that could completely enhance your vacation at the Painted Porch Vacation Rental. There are also some events that cause every hotel room within 50 miles to book completely. We try to keep this page up to date so that you can plan in advance. Prices for flights into the Finger Lakes can also fluctuate based on this demand. For example both flights and accomodations for Cornell University Graduation and Ithaca College Graduation are big sell-out weeks for both hotels and vacation rentals. Look at our reservation calendar to be sure that the Painted Porch is available to rent when you are hoping to visit the Finger Lakes!
Here are some details around what goes on in the the Finger Lakes through the summer. I have included a link to the best website for getting more details wherever possible. Please not that these are the 2015 dates and details. We will be adding 2016 as we collect more information about what will be happening on in the Finger Lakes as soon as we can!
May 2015
23rd Annual Wine & Herb Festival. (Participating Wineries) May 1
This is a super fun tradition. At each winery, you will enjoy a tasting as well as walking way with a complimentary herb to plant in your garden for the summer. Most of the participating winery are within 15 minutes of the Painted Porch Vacation Rental. Details
2300 Degrees Glass-Fest, Corning NY, May 21 & 22
A great tradition that takes place in Corning, New York celebrating the glass artisans of the area. There will be live glass blowing, live music, food and drinks. Great fun to be had by all in the heart of the Finger Lakes. The Corning Glass Museum is between 35 and 40 minutes from the vacation rental. Details
Ithaca College Graduation
The Bombers have great spirit and put on a fantastic celebration for their graduating senior class. Make sure to line up all of the events for the weekend from this link. Even through Ithaca College is only 30 minutes away, there is one bad traffic spot in between the vacation rental and the Ithaca Collage Campus, so we recommend leaving extra time, just in case. Cornell University Graduation
This year, Cornell is celebrating the 150th anniversary since it was founded. So the 150th commencememt is a very exciting time for all Cornelians. There are always a lot of public events that take place at Cornell during graduation weekend. It is a great time to visit the campus and enjoy the Clock Tower Chimes. Wear red and cheer on the new graduates! Just as we recommend extra time to get to Commencement Events at Ithaca College, we would suggest the same precautionary planning, to make sure that you arrive at all events on time. Details
Boardwalk Arcade Celebration, Museum Square, Rochester, May 30 & 31st
This is a fun family oriented celebration in Rochester. The focus is on all of the great arcade games that you might find in Cony Island. Rochester is about an hour and 20 minuted from the painted porch vacation rental.
The Ithaca Festival, Ithaca, May 28 - 31st
This is one of the funnest celebrations of all. There are multiple venues, multiple stages, tons of food booths, art booths, crafts and tee-shirts. Parking is usually a bit of a project, but once you are there, it is lots of fun! Downtown Ithaca is about 25-30 minutes from the Painted Porch Vacation Rental. Details
Ithaca Farmers Market @ Steamboat Landing, Every Sat 9-3 & Sun 10-3
This is my favorite part of the Ithaca tradition. Only 25 minutes from the cottage and worth spending a long happy morning o afternoon. We recommend that our guests stop there on the way to the rental on Saturday so that they can have a refrigerator full of organic produce & artisinal cheeses! Not to mention fresh flowers! Details

Raspberry Meets Chocolate, Hosmer Winery, Saturday June 6 (1-5pm)
Who can argue with wine and chocolate? Yum. Hosmer winery is only 10 minutes away from the Painted Porch Vacation Rental. So, don't miss this fun event!
Keuka Lake Triathalon, Sunday June 7
Lots of people like to plan their vacation around race events, and the Kueka event.
Sahlen's 6 Hours at the Glen, Watkins Glen Race Track, June 25 - 28

Sports Car Club of America Super Tour, Watkins Glen, July 3-5
This is a fun event for al ages, where you can really be a part of the SCCA US Majors at the classic outdoor setting in Watkins Glen. The Glen is about 35-40 minutes away from the Painted Porch Vacation Rental. Details
Finger Lakes Wine Festival, Watkins Glan July 10, 11 & 12
The title says it all! But I would be remiss in not mentioning that the whole weekend kicks off with a TOGA PARTY! There are also esteemed wine experts offering seminars thought the weekend, as well as tastings and live music. Details
Grassroots Festival, Trumansburg, NY July 16 - 19
This festival started small and is now one of the biggest sellout weekends in the whole Finger Lakes Region. A huge line-up of great musical talent along with great food and drink. What a fun thing to do in the summer. Lots of fun activities during the day for kids as well! Details
