The Painted Porch At Sheldrake on Cayuga Lake

Children love this cottage! With over 200 ft of shale beach, there is no end to rock skipping, duck feeding and sea-glass hunting. There are 2 and a half acres of pretty level lawns for croquet, frisbee, kickball and other lawn games. And the funnest part is that you can walk to ice cream!

Set on the west shore of Cayuga Lake, and built in 1826, the Painted Porch Finger Lakes Vacation Rental is a sweet and casual place to stay in Interlaken,  right next to Kidder's Landing. We have purchased this home so that we may live there, but while we work through the details we thought it would make a good sense to provide the home as a vacation rental. Because it it right on the lake, with a nice lawn sloping gently down to over 200 feet of shale beach lakefront, it is truly the most fantastic spot for your family vacation, family reunion or friends' getaway.

Sheldrake is located on the West Shore of Cayuga Lake and in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country and Cayuga Wine Trail. You might go North or South from the Painted Porch Vacation Rental, but either way you will find wineries! Within 15 miles there are 14 wineries and a few distilleries! Check out the Cayuga Wine Trail Map on our Trip Tips page!

The Painted Porch Lakefront Vacation Rental is in the heart of the Finger Lakes, which is home to several colleges. This is a great place to stay for Cornell graduation, Ithaca College Graduation, SUNY Cortland graduation, Hobart/William Smith Graduation, Wells College Graduation or for one of the special events that takes place every year in the Finger Lakes. The house is under an hour from Watkins Glen and just over an hour to Syracuse and Rochester.

One of the greatest things about this sweet house on the lake is that it is located within 100 yards of a seasonal grocery store called the Busy Bee, as well as a fantastic restaurant called O'Malley's Cabin on the Lake. So, after a long day on the water, touring colleges or wine tasting along the Cayuga Wine Trail; there is always the option to walk to dinner! And what could be more ideal than walking with your children or grandchildren to get a popsicle or a scoop of ice cream?! Not to mention if you run out of coffee or beer!!! Here are a few pictures we have taken during different seasons to inspire your vacation excitement!
